Access Control
In precision laboratories, access control involves both physical and virtual settings, as well as ongoing monitoring. Without the ability to easily control access to projects, data, and samples, research laboratories may inadvertently run afoul of compliance guidelines or put sample-donor data at risk of exposure.
Simplicis enhances access control in two primary ways: We monitor legacy systems for potential data access vulnerabilities, and we offer Ledger, a laboratory information management system with customizable access controls.
With Ledger LIMS, you can ensure that everyone involved in a project has access to only the pieces of information they need. You can also restrict sample access by substance, location, organization, container, or user credentials.
Documenting Sample Movement
Sample access control is important in pharma and agriscience, but even more so in biobanking and biopharma. For a biobank, poor access control could compromise sensitive medical records. Biobanks that fail to inspire trust in sample security may have difficulty securing funding or getting new samples.
With Ledger, biobanks and precision research laboratories can document sample movement from point of origin onward – down to microscopic measurements in high throughput screening processes. Ledger also ensures storage environments, solvents, and mediums are ideally suited to specific samples.
Monitoring Sample Integrity
Ledger’s audit trail capabilities document environmental factors such as freeze-thaw cycles and humidity uptake. Ledger also tracks any available data for solvent purity, user and system interactions, and quality control. If at any point a process breaks down, Ledger provides the data necessary to pinpoint errors or failures.
